Massage Envy sponsors Massage for the Cure

One of my favorite words in the world is massage (so is spa!)! Hey, I'm a girl, cut me a little slack!

But when massage is combined with a cause we're passionate about, it's a beyond winning combination!

Here's the press release with more information about a spectacular event happening next week at area Massage Envys:

On Monday, September 15, 2009, Massage Envy will team up with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help win the fight against breast cancer by hosting Massage for the Cure.

During this one-day event, Massage Envy clinics will offer $35 one-hour therapeutic massage sessions, with $10 from each massage being donated directly to the Folsom/Sacramento affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Additional donations will also be accepted and all proceeds collected will go directly into the local community.

The event is open to the public and requires an appointment at any of the Folsom or Sacramento Massage Envy clinic(s). Reservations will be taken starting on August 15, 2009. All proceeds from Massage for the Cure will support breast cancer research, as well as breast cancer education, screening and treatment initiatives in communities across the US.

“Massage Envy is extremely proud to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and to continue the partnership that we’ve developed to raise funds for breast cancer efforts in our community,” said Tim Bradbury.

Since the first Massage for the Cure event in 2005, Massage Envy has raised over $800,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This year, Massage Envy’s goal is to raise $500,000, with an estimated 590 Massage Envy clinics in 40 states participating.

This year alone, more than 180,000 women and men in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will lose their lives to the disease. A woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and the disease claims another life every 13 minutes.
Appointments for Massage for the Cure can be made beginning Saturday, August 15. Contact any Folsom or Sacramento Massage Envy clinic directly at 916-932-2588 or visit MassageEnvy.com.

Have you seen the goats?

A couple of weeks ago I was driving down Empire Ranch Road in Folsom (also known as Sophia Parkway) and I glanced to my left and saw goats, yes, goats. I told my husband about it, and he looked at me as if I had lost my mind -- this sentiment for him was confirmed when we drove past the place where I thought I saw them and alas there were no goats.

Well, imagine his surprise, however, when, a day or two later, we were driving back down Empire Ranch Drive, and the goats had returned.

Like a giddy little child, I had to get out of the car and confirm that I wasn't hallucinating and that in fact the goats were real. And, they were.

Lo and behold, we discovered that the goats had been placed by GoatCentral.com to do some eco-friendly brush clearing, and they've been moving the goats around Empire Ranch for the past several weeks. How cool is that?
