Ride, Ride, Ride to Your Heart's Content at the El Dorado County Fair!

Ok, being a former county fair queen (yes, truly!), I've always been a huge fan of county fairs. So when I got this press release this morning from the El Dorado County Fair folks, I was positively giddy and had to share the info!

"Thrill seekers are in for a treat this summer at the El Dorado County Fair in Placerville. If you love to spin, tilt, and twirlSyou can do so to your heart's content for just $25 and all day of the Fair¹s four day run June 17-20. This new pre-sale offer from the El Dorado County Fair means more ride time for carnival lovers and a $10 savings for Friday and Saturday visitors compared to last year.

'In previous years, the Fair's pre-sale wristbands were available for use Thursday and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. only,' says Jody Gray, the fair's chief executive officer. 'But this year, in keeping with our goal to create the ultimate "faircation" at an affordable price, we've extended the offer to include all four days of the fair, from the time the carnival opens to the time it closes hours on Sunday. That means a speedy person (with a strong stomach) could probably get their cost per ride down to 50-cents or less!'

Entrance Fees & Parking
Entrance fees for the Fair, which have not increased since 2003, will remain the same again this year. Regular admission tickets for persons 13 years and older are $8, ages 7 to 12 years are $6, seniors 60 years and older are $6, children six and younger and military personnel in uniform are FREE every day. FREE parking and FREE shuttle service is available from the Library/Government Center, Missouri Flat Road Park & Ride, and the Walmart Park & Ride. On grounds parking is $5 per vehicle.

Pre-Sale Tickets and Packages
In addition to the $25 pre-sale carnival wristband, you can save $1 off admission by purchasing tickets in advance. A season pass purchased in advance will gain you entrance to the Fair each day, Thursday through Sunday for a cost of $18 regular admission or $15 for those 7 to 12 years and seniors ages 60 and older. Families and other groups may want to consider the Gold Discovery package. This $40 pre-sale package includes four one-day tickets (valid any day) and 20 coupons for carnival rides savings compared to the cost of purchasing ride coupons during the Fair!

How to Purchase
Pre-sale tickets, wristbands, and packages may be purchased in person at the Fair office, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm at 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville or online starting April 1, 2010 at www.eldoradocountyfair.org."

A Very Special Event...to benefit Little Molly Easton

We recently got this press release about an upcoming Spaghetti Feed to benefit the Molly Easton Medical Fund this coming Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Firefighters' Memorial Hall...More information about the Spaghetti Feed is available by emailing: smorgan@diamondfire.org.

Here's the story about Molly Easton (the daughter of Diamond Springs/El Dorado Firefighter, Patrick and Kaiser RN, Shaunna) in her parent's words:

"For those of you who have never met Molly she is the sweetest, tiniest, full of life little girl. She is the apple of our eye and continuously makes us smile and laugh. She is a great sister to her big brother Spencer and is loved by all who know her.

At Molly's 2 year well baby checkup the Dr. noticed that she had a "lazy eye", which we had also noticed. We were sent to a pediatric ophthalmologist, which we were finally able to see yesterday(1/28/10) and that's where our story begins. Molly sat on my lap as the Dr. looked into her eye for what seemed to me an eternity. I still remember the look on the Dr.'s face as she said to me "Molly's right eye is perfectly healthy but there is a mass, a tumor in the retina in her left eye." What? This can't be happening to me, this is all a dream, not my daughter. All those thoughts rushed through my head as I cried and cried and held onto my baby girl. My first words were "Is it cancerous?" The doctor just nodded her head. She said from the appearance of it, she has Retinoblastoma in her left eye. Which is a malignant tumor that usually effects children under the age of 5. We are doing lots of research and are exploring all of our options. She will definitely need treatment but where or what is yet to be determined. We will try and keep this website up to date on all that is happening. It is a way to keep everyone up to date but also to just get my thoughts and feelings down, in essence a journal.***Since I first wrote "my story" Molly has been diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma and a brain tumor. We are at Children's Hospital in LA getting her the best care possible."

Donations can be made to the Molly Easton Medical Fund at El Dorado Savings Bank in Placerville or dropped off at the Diamond Springs/El Dorado Fire Station 49.
