Wine Walks in Northstar-at-Tahoe!

To me, a day is mighty fine if there’s wine! So when I recently spent a Saturday afternoon at Northstar-at-Tahoe enjoying the breezy summer weather, strolling around the Village and sampling multiple vinos with two friends, well, I sure wasn’t whining. As the third in a series of five Wine Walks held at the Village at Northstar, the three of us tasted both reds and whites from San Luis Obispo’s Edna Valley Winery. Held from May through August, each Wine Walk in the series features a different California winery serving up a variety of its wines for tastings.

Tickets are $25 in advance, or $30 the day of, and it’s definitely worth the cost because you’ll taste seven or eight wines and snack on tasty refreshments. We arrived shortly before the 2:30 p.m. start time to check in, which was smart because the line was quickly growing longer and cutting down on our sippy-sippy time. At check-in, we each received a map of the Village, for navigating which wines and snacks were available at the participating shops, and a commemorative wine glass (Woot! Gotta love free loot!).

As we made our way to each wine tasting stop (which had generous pours!), the location would be checked off on our maps, which helped as we made our way through the Village. Along with the delicious wines, we got to grub on strawberries and chocolate fondue (white, milk and dark), cheese and crackers, and cupcakes. All the sweet treats complemented the wines very well, but weren’t quite enough to fill us up so we stuck around for dinner in the Village since the snacks were a bit limited. At the end of the three-hour event, we filled in our contact information on our maps, which became our tickets to enter a wine-themed prize pack raffle, with the drawing held in August.

If you’re planning a trip to Northstar this summer (why wouldn’t you when it’s just about two hours away?!), try to set it up to coincide with one of the two upcoming Wine Walks this summer. It’s a guaranteed way to have fun in the sun!

Upcoming Wine Walks:
Saturday, July 30 - Sterling Vineyards
Saturday, August 27 - Ferrari-Carano

Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort
5001 Northstar Drive, Truckee

Bastille Day in Lodi!

Know what you are doing to celebrate French independence on the 14th?

This year, Wine & Roses in Lodi will be celebrating Bastille Day in style with French Chefs Didier Gerbi and Fabrice Dubuc at the culinary helm of Wine & Roses restaurant and banquet operations.

“We’re delighted to bring some of the French culture to Lodians” says owner Kathryn Munson. “It’s a day to celebrate togetherness and rejoice in community. We are looking forward to a fantastic fĂȘte!”

And what would a celebration be without music? They will feature Bal Musette tunes, a coupling of jaunty melodies and playing styles that reveal the resilience of the human spirit, evoking as it does the romantic cafes, sidewalks and dance halls of Paris.

It puts us in the mood to devour some macrons!

When: Thursday July 14th
Time: 6 p.m.
Price: $40.00 per person.
Overnight packages are also being offered, which include a King Room, tickets to the Bastille Day celebration, and breakfast the next morning.

For reservations, call 209.371.6160 or email at restreservations@winerose.com
