Bell Bros. Heating & Air Kicks Off Fund-Raising Campaign

Bell Bros. HVAC gives back for a second year with a fund-raising campaign for Disabled Veterans.

The six-month campaign will kick off on Memorial Day at River Cats’ Military Appreciation Day Game, May 28, at 1:05 p.m. against the Reno Aces.

After successfully raising more than $30,000 during a one month fund-raiser for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in 2011, Bell Bros. Heating & Air will kick off a six month campaign to raise funds and awareness for the DAV.

Disabled veterans have been hit hard by the recession and Bell Bros. wants to give back to this very special group of dedicated Americans who suffered greatly for bravely protecting our country. Customers who call in to schedule a service call or decide to install a new unit will help in the effort.

Bell Bros. will donate $1 per scheduled air conditioning/heating tune up or service call and $10 per new unit installed in an effort to meet a goal of a $50,000 donation. The campaign will wrap up with a final fund-raising push on Veteran’s Day in November. To schedule a tune-up or free estimate, please call (916) 444-1234.

“Our armed forces continue to do so much to keep our country safe and many suffer greatly for their bravery. It’s the least we can do to thank them and give back to support those who need it most,” explained Kenny Bell, co-owner of Bell Bros. Heating & Air. “Many of our staff are veterans or have family members who have served or are serving in active military duty.”

“The generosity of Bell Brothers is helping us ensure our veterans live the quality of life they deserve after serving so bravely on behalf of our nation,” said DAV National Adjutant Arthur H. Wilson. “Their generosity and the generosity of their customers will help fuel our efforts to advocate and provide free services to our heroes.”

Bell Bros. Heating & Air will kick off their fund-raising campaign on Memorial Day with a special complimentary BBQ and River Cats game tickets for up to 300 disabled veterans and their guests. To register for the BBQ, DAV members can call Bell Bros. Heating & Air at (916) 444-1234 and provide their name, phone number and/or email address to claim tickets and RSVP for the BBQ.

The Sacramento River Cats Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by the U.S. Army, will feature the  River Cats players wearing special camouflage uniforms to honor U.S. military veterans.

The 131st Italian Picnic and Parade in Sutter Creek

The 131st Italian Picnic and Parade in Sutter Creek is an event not to be missed. It is an old fashioned, HUGE parade and a weekend of fun for the whole family!

Since 1882, the Italian Benevolent Society has hosted its Italian Picnic and Parade on the first Sunday in June. And what a parade it is! The march down Old State Highway 49 and the picnic that follows are well worth a weekend trip; to say nothing of the All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti and Chicken Feed the night before.

In the Gold Country, they really know how to put on a party! Food, carnival, live band, dancing and games.  There is Bocce Ball for a buck. Friday night is kids’ night and Saturday is the Italian dinner at 6 pm. The Grand Parade will be in downtown Sutter Creek on Sunday at 10:30 am. The Bocce Tournament is Sunday afternoon.

The parade itself begins in Sutter Creek at 10:30 on Sunday. Looking down Old State Highway 49, you’ll see raised rock sidewalks flanking the two-lane road, with Gold Country residents claiming spots along the parade route. A lucky few have seats on turn-of-the-century-style balconies, with bird’s-eye views of the scene: giant colored balloons, trays of snow cones and clowns bent on selling the necessary parade accouterments – long horns, flags, water guns and cotton candy.

Most of the county residents who haven’t staked out sideline positions seem to be involved in the parade – on a float, in a band, as a member of a marching Boy Scout, Girl Scout or 4-H unit, riding high on county fire equipment, or dressed to the hilt on a horse.

Go and be part of the fun!

Information:
  • Italian Picnic Grounds in Sutter Hill, Sutter Creek, CA
  • June 1,2, & 3, 2012 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
