Joe Getty and the Dead Flowers “One More Mile” Benefit Show Benefitting Sleep Train Foster Kids

UPDATE: THE SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED. NO DATE HAS BEEN SET AS OF YET!

Joe Getty, one half of Northern California’s wildly popular Armstrong and Getty radio program, formed Joe Getty & The Dead Flowers in 2009 with the release of their debut album, Low Expectations. The band plays original songs built from traditional American music, just a little twisted, louder and nastier; lots of guitar, vocal harmonies and a bit of twang with the bang.

Sleep Train has joined forces with Joe Getty & The Dead Flowers and the community to help northern California foster children. In celebration of the Dead Flowers’ release of their second album, One More Mile, the band will be playing a Pre-Grand Opening benefit show at the new Sammy Hagar venue: Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar and Grill in Roseville. The event is occurring a week prior to the Grand Opening of the new bar and restaurant. The event is open to the public and all ticket proceeds, $20/ticket, will go to benefit the Sleep Train Foster Kids program.

  • Who: Joe Getty & The Dead Flowers
  • What: Benefit show to help foster children
  • Where: Sammy ‘s Rockin’ Island Bar and Grill - 238 Vernon Street, Roseville
  • When: Saturday, September 8, 2012 - Doors open at 7:00pm
One pair of in-venue tickets to see Sammy Hagar’s sold out show on 9/15 will be awarded to someone at the benefit show. Joe Getty & The Dead Flowers’ benefit album, One More Mile, was recorded this year and co-produced with Joe Johnston (Cake, Deftones). The CD is available throughout northern California Sleep Train stores and digital downloads are available on iTunes and will be available at the benefit concert. The proceeds for the album’s first year’s sales (released July 2012), benefit The Sleep Train Foster Kids program, which helps provide essential items like schools supplies, shoes, and clothing, as well as funding extra-circular activities that teach important life skills for thousands of local foster children.

For a promotional copy of One More Mile or to schedule an interview with Joe Getty & The Dead Flowers, please contact Richard Austin at 916-223-8147 or email at richardaustinkw@me.com.
