FREE Microchip Clinic Today!!!

Placer SPCA is holding a Microchip Clinic today, Saturday, March 30, at the Raley’s in Lincoln, located at 765 California 65. The first 150 microchips will be implanted for FREE, thanks to a grant received from Marlene Stoner of Sun City Lincoln Hills. Free microchips are limited to 2 per household. No appointment is necessary.  Guests are asked to have all dogs on leash and all cats in carriers.

A microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, contains a code unique to every animal. Similar to a bar code, when the microchip is scanned it displays the owners contact information. A microchip can be a lost pet’s ticket home

“When a lost animal arrives at a shelter or veterinary clinic, the first thing we do is scan for a microchip,” said Placer SPCA CEO Leilani Fratis.  “When we find a microchip and the contact information is current with the manufacturer, a lost pet can go home that same day.”

The Placer SPCA recommends that every pet have an ID tag and a microchip.  Even if your pet typically remains indoors, a microchip is strongly advised. Should an indoor pet get out, they can easily become disoriented and lost.

“Last year, close to 2,500 lost animals were brought to our Roseville Companion Animal Care Center as strays,” said Fratis.  “We know most of them have people who are mourning their loss and even actively looking for them, but without identification the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families are heart-breakingly low.”

WHAT: Placer SPCA FREE Microchip Clinic
WHEN: Saturday, March 30, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
WHERE: Raley’s in Lincoln - 765 California 65, Lincoln

If your pet already has a microchip, please be sure to keep your contact information current by calling the manufacturer if you move or change phone numbers.  If you don’t know the manufacturer information, come in to the Placer SPCA for a free scan.  For more information, please visit placerspca.org, or call (916) 782-7722 or (530) 885-7387.

McLaughlin Studios Presents Smile The Musical Auditions

McLaughlin Theatre Company is revving up their 2013 Summer production schedule with Smile The Musical, scheduled to kick-start auditions the first week of April.

This touching and satiric musical by the creators of Little Shop of Horrors, A Chorus Line and They're Playing Our Song, follows the intrigue and exploits on stage and behind-the-scenes as Santa Rosa, California plays host to the Young American Miss Pageant.

Young actors should prepare themselves to make their audience laugh and maybe even shed some tears as they take them on a wild ride through what some may believe is an actual pageant, not just a show.

Characters range from Gina Minelli, a laid back and drama free surfer girl who is a contestant from San Luis Obispo to Heidi Anderson, a contestant from Anaheim who is obsessed with Disneyland, and brags about all the movie stars she lives near.

Auditions are open to any child age 6+, teen or adult that is looking to add some fun to their summer, experience to their resume, or both!   Beginning on April 5th at 7p.m., actors will perform one minute of a Broadway song that they have prepared beforehand, bringing along either a CD or sheet music.  There is no monologue preparation required!

McLaughlin Studios is excited to be able to bring this fun and upbeat musical to Placer County, and to give our creative community members the opportunity to grow as actors, dancers and musicians.

Auditions:
  • April 5th - 7p.m. & 8p.m.
  • April 6th - 11a.m. & 12p.m.
  • April 12th - 7p.m. & 8p.m.
  • Call Backs: April 13th - 2p.m. & 4p.m.
  • Performance dates to be chosen from: June 20 - June 30
Additional audition information can be found at MTCTheatre.org.
