Women's Wisdom Art Holiday Open House And Art Sale December 14th

The artists of Women’s Wisdom Art,  low income women in our community, many of whom have health issues and are struggling to better their lives,  will be showing and selling their artworks at their 2nd annual Holiday Open House and Art sale on December 14, from 2-6 p.m. with a special poetry reading at 4 p.m.

Women's Wisdom Art (WWA) has been in existence since 1991. For nearly 22 years WWA has helped countless women experiencing hardship in their lives.

The empowering qualities of creating art are used to help women who are experiencing poverty and health issues ranging from cancer and stroke to various mental illnesses.

The umbrella group that had sponsored WWA for the past 12 years decided to refocus their resources and made a decision to close WWA.  This has left a huge void in the community for women recovering from everyday traumas. However, due to the efforts of original WWA founder, Laura Ann Walton, and some very dedicated volunteers lead by Helen Plenert they are continuing WWA as a free standing program.  They offer seven classes a week at Slider Community Center, 7851 35th Avenue, Sacramento.

Women’s Wisdom Art is actively seeking to add members to their Board and develop a community of financial support for the work of WWA.  For further information, please visit their website at womenswisdomart.org.
