Sex Trafficking Awareness Event This Week

The Folsom Lake College Rotaract Club is hosting a three-day Sex Trafficking Awareness Event on the Folsom campus (10 College Parkway in Folsom) this week April 9-11. Sex trafficking is one of the largest-growing criminal industries in the world, and the goal of the event is to make Folsom Lake College students and the community more aware of this issue and learn how to get involved in the fight against sex trafficking.

Various organizations, including WEAVE, Run for Courage, AIM, Hagar International, Chab Dai, Glass Slipper, Compassion International, C2BU, and Wind Youth Services, will be present and have informational booths outside the Falcon's Roost Cafeteria from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.

For each of the three days, a main event will take place in the Large Lecture Hall (Buckeye Hall room FL3-173):

The session topics include:
- Monday, April 9, 11:30 a.m.-12:55 p.m. – Documentary screening, Sex + Money
- Tuesday, April 10, 12-1 p.m. – Local musician Melissa Lingo will share her experiences from her mission trip to Brazil and perform a song she wrote for one of the girls she worked with
- Wednesday, April 11, 12-12:30 p.m. – A local detective will give a presentation.

Entrance to all events is free (a daily parking pass can be purchased for $1). Maps to the campus can be found at www.flc.losrios.edu – just click on “Maps” at the top of the home page and then “Main Folsom Campus.”
