Ten Thomas Kinkade Prints Up For Bid at Chamber Education Council Wine Tasting/Art Auction

The El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce Education Council will be holding the annual Wine Tasting/Art Auction on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. where ten Thomas Kinkade framed prints, along with artwork from other area artists, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

David Girard Vineyard will be the site where the Wine Tasting/Art Auction will take place, and the Wine Tasting will feature fine David Girard Vineyard wines.

Tickets are $10.00 each.

Many artists who have participated in the past will be participating again. This is a great opportunity to not only raise money for the Al Aguiar Memorial Scholarship to support the continuing education of El Dorado County residents, but the Wine Tasting/Art Auction also gives excellent exposure to local El Dorado County artists.

There will be door prizes donated by local businesses and individuals. The proceeds will be used for the Al Aguiar Memorial Scholarship and the Folsom Lake College, El Dorado Center Scholarships.

The Al Aguiar Memorial Scholarship enables employers in El Dorado County to assist their employees to increase their education and knowledge by allowing the employee to be trained while working, thus benefiting the employer as well.

The Folsom Lake College, El Dorado Center Scholarships are for re-entry students and first-time students. Tickets for this event are available at the following sponsoring locations: El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, El Dorado County Office of Education, Folsom Lake College-El Dorado Center, Shingle Springs-Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce, David Girard Vineyards, Brandman University, and El Dorado Arts Council. You may call the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce at 621-5885 or the El Dorado County Office of Education at 295-2337 for more information on the Al Aguiar Memorial Scholarship or the Wine Tasting/Art Auction.

Military Couple Wanted for Dream Wedding!

In the spirit of taking care of the soldiers who continue to take care of us, a group of wedding professionals have formed a task force to offer one military couple a dream wedding on July 6, 2012.

Finding the couple will be the daunting job for the group. The call goes out for men and women who were involved in the recent Iraq War and the war in Afghanistan. The preference is to find a male and female soldier who are engaged but haven’t the funds to put on a lavish wedding.

Dubbed OPERATION: WEDDED BLISS, the ceremony and the reception will be performed at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg and hosted by Carvalho Wineries. The catering for the reception will be provided by Joe Thompson of Crisp Catering. The master of ceremonies and reception disc jockey is Mark Billingsley of Super Sounds Disc Jockey Service. All ceremony and reception equipment has been provided by Delta Restaurant Supply and Party Rentals. Eleakis & Elder Photography will record the event for posterity and Sparkle Bridal Couture will provide a stunning gown for the bride. The event is being coordinated by Pizzazz Event Planning.

“We all wanted to give something back to those who give so much to us – our freedom and security,” said Thompson of Crisp Catering. “We know that weddings can be expensive and we know that soldiers don’t enter the service to get rich. So my friends and I thought that pooling our resources and our years of experience to give one couple their dream wedding would be a great way to say thanks.”

Interested couples are asked to contact Mark Billingsley at 916-698-5675 or Joe Thompson at 916-552-7477 or via e-mail at catering@crispcatering.com. Couples are to describe their military background and in 150 words or less tell the group why they would be the perfect couple for the perfect wedding and reception.

Deadline for submissions is April 13, 2012.
