Gallery at 48 Natoma Art Exhibition: Cityscapes and Alleyways

Streaks of glowing head lights, blurs of blowing trees, reflections in glass windows; these artists have captured a moment in time, freezing the bustling traffic, city lights and busy streets of downtown Sacramento.

The next exhibit at the Gallery at 48 Natoma in Folsom, Cityscapes and Alleyways, will feature oil paintings by Anthony Montanino and photography by Keith Berger. The exhibit will open on Friday, January 25 and continue through March 7, 2013.

Anthony Montanino’s paintings are in numerous public and private collections both domestic and international, including those of celebrities Madonna and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Montanino has the ability to work in different styles at the same time and has a well-earned reputation for producing stunning urban landscapes. Montanino studied with Gregory Kondos, Oliver Jackson and Jack Ogden. Among his numerous awards are the 1985-86 Robison-Witt Memorial Fellowship, the 2002 Sacramento Contemporary Arts Award and the 2009 Sacramento Fine Arts Center Award and five Awards of Excellence from the California State Fair.

“I enjoy taking photographs of the wonders of nature, both large and small, of coastal scenes and cityscapes,” says photographer Keith Berger about his work. After discovering Freeman Patterson’s works and writings, he was inspired to work on expanding his visual thinking and began a series of photographic projects focusing on abstractions and reflections that view everyday scenes and objects in new ways. He is a member of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center in downtown Sacramento and his work has been exhibited throughout California and England.

In the adjacent Community Gallery at 48 Natoma, the premier exhibition of Folsom’s new photography club, FolPho, will display their first show. This companion exhibit to the main gallery exhibit will focus on architectural photography. FolPho will be on display from January 15 to March 1, 2013.

The public is invited to celebrate both exhibits at the free opening reception on Friday, January 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, with refreshments, wine and live music.

The Gallery at 48 Natoma is managed by the Folsom Parks and Recreation Department and showcases art by regional and national professional artists, area museum collections and traveling exhibitions; offering high quality original art exhibits that the community may otherwise not have an opportunity to experience.

The gallery is free and open to the public and art is available for purchase. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9-5 with additional hours Tuesday nights from 6-8p.m.  Free tours can be arranged by appointment. For more information contact Cindy Abraham, (916) 355-7285, or cabraham@folsom.ca.us.
