Local Designer Is New Silestone Trendspotter

Silestone (silestoneusa.com), a world leader in natural quartz surfacing, will re-ignite its popular Trendspotters program at Dwell on Design, America’s largest modern design event, which started June 21and continues to June 23 in Los Angeles.

This year, three new leading designers from across the country will become the 2013 Silestone Trendspotters — on the hunt for the latest products, design innovation and trends.

From inspiring color to creative patterns and innovative textures, together the Silestone Trendspotters will utilize their collective experience and keen eye for great design to instantly report on emerging trends and innovative products at Dwell on Design through their own blogs and social media channels as well as the Silestone digital platforms, using the hashtag #SilestoneTrends.

The up-to-the-minute insight will allow other architects and designers who can’t attend to stay informed on the newest products and trends for their design projects. Additionally, consumers and design enthusiasts can get a sneak peak and join in the design conversation on Silestonetrends.com where all #SilestoneTrends updates and insights will appear before, during and after Dwell on Design.

This year’s Silestone Trendspotters are renowned designers with distinct and compelling design aesthetics from three important U.S. markets: Chicago, Dallas and Sacramento.

One of the Trendspotters is Kerrie Kelly, an award-winning interior designer and author who founded Sacramento-based Kerrie Kelly Design Lab in 1995. Kerrie Kelly is also a Style Magazine Contributor!

She has authored two books: Home Décor: A Sunset Design Guide, and the newly released My Interior Design Kit. In addition to being a certified interior designer, she’s also earned an MBA and is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) and shares her design inspiration on her blog, "Everyone Deserves Great Design." Kerrie’s work has been featured on several HGTV shows and publications, including Room Crashers, Bath Crashers and House Crashers, Dwell, Elle Décor, Redbook and Colorado Homes & Lifestyle, Sacramento Magazine, Style Magazine and numerous blogs.

Following the show, they will then serve as design ambassadors delivering their own trend report at their local Cosentino Center this fall.  The Trendspotters also will serve as the judges for the Silestone Design Contest, which seeks to honor independent designers who demonstrate a mastery of color and design creativity in a kitchen project.  Details on the contest and how to submit projects can be found at Silestonetrends.com.

The inaugural Silestone Trendspotters program was launched in 2012 at the Kitchen and Bath Industry show in Chicago, with four leading designers from three major design hubs. The highly successful program featured Kim Lewis, former designer for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and founder of Kim Lewis Designs in Los Angeles; John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon, the design duo behind Madcap Cottage in Brooklyn; and Mark Williams, founder of Mark Williams Design Associates in Atlanta. Captivating the kitchen and bath audience at KBIS, the Trendspotters’ inspirations and insights inspired a trip to Spain, the home of Cosentino’s global headquarters and production facilities, where the Trendspotters were immersed in the Spanish culture and reported on international design influences. Images and observations from the 2012 Trendspotters also can be found at Silestonetrends.com.
