Reminder -- Road Closure/Traffic Impacts Today, May 12th, For Amgen

Today, Monday, May 12, Folsom will host 128 of the world’s best pro cyclists at the AMGEN Tour of California!

The race starts and finishes in Historic Folsom.

At 1:05 p.m., the first rider will embark on the 12.5-mile course through Folsom for the “Race of Truth” – the Stage 2 Individual Time Trial.  In this stage of the 8-day race, the riders compete solely against the clock, and are dispatched at 1-minute intervals.  Earlier in the day, races are conducted for pro women and amateur riders.

What’s happening in the Historic District? From 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., large crowds will gather near the start and finish lines, and to enjoy the Tour of CA Lifestyle Festival with music, food, vendors and an up-close look at the cyclists as they warm up and prepare for the races.

Excellent alternative viewing options include:
  • Either side of Rainbow Bridge (but not on it for safety reasons)
  • Folsom Lake Crossing Bridge (lots of room, safe and beautiful)
  • Lake Natoma Crossing (upstream side)Turn-around on Green Valley Road near County Line
  • East Natoma between Folsom Lake Crossing and Green Valley roads
How to get there and where to park: If possible, walk, ride your bike, or take Light Rail to the Historic District. Three secured Bike Valet stations will be available (look for signs).  Note that vehicle parking will not be allowed on residential Historic District streets.  Parking lots are located within walking distance of the Festival area.

Road closures in effect 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 12:
  • Rainbow Bridge & Folsom Lake Crossing
  • Lake Natoma Crossing limited to one lane per direction
  • Folsom-Auburn Road limited to one southbound lane (no northbound traffic)
  • Riley St. closed between Sutter and Leidesdorff
  • Sutter and Leidesdorff closed between Folsom Blvd and Scott St
  • Reading, Decatur and Wool closed between Figueroa and Leidesdorff
  • East Natoma St closed between Folsom Lake Crossing and Blue Ravine
  • Green Valley Road closed between the County line and East Natoma St.
