El Dorado Musical Theatre Opens Thoroughly Modern Millie

El Dorado Musical Theatre (EDMT) recently cast 37 local performers ages 12 – 20 in its upcoming production, Thoroughly Modern Millie.

The show features Julia Adams as “Millie Dillmount,” Zack Collins as “Jimmy Smith,” Kelly Maur as “Miss Dorothy Brown,” Andrew Wilson as “Trevor Graydon,” and 33 more talented, tapping performers. This is an Encore production – cast by audition only.

Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. Taking place in New York City in 1922, this show tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz. A time when women were entering the work force and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.

Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes wonderful songs and rousing dance numbers. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, this show won six Tony Awards including Best Musical in 2002.

This show is rated PG Friday, February 14 @ 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15 @ 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16 @ 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20 @ 7:00 p.m. (Bargain Night – all seats $14.75) Friday, February 21 @ 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22 @ 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23 @ 2:00 p.m.

Tickets for Thoroughly Modern Millie are on sale now and can be purchased online at harriscenter.net, by calling the Harris Center (Three Stages) Box Office at (916) 608-6888, or in person at the Box Office. Ticket prices are $18 - $36. Group discounts are available to groups of more than 10.

El Dorado Musical Theatre is an award-winning regional theater company based in El Dorado Hills featuring performers ages 6-22. EDMT was founded in 2001 and produces four major productions each year.
