Granite Bay Resident Organizes Ride To Feed the Hungry

Granite Bay resident and motorcycle enthusiast Jake Coplen is organizing, for the third year in a row, a motorcycle ride aimed at giving back to his community. Coplen, who has secured the support of Roseville Yamaha, is hosting a Poker Run on June 30 to benefit the Placer Food Bank. The event is open to interested riders of all levels, and all makes and models of motorcycles.

“This ride started two years ago when I was in high school and was looking for a way to give back to my community. After thinking about it, I decided there must be some way to combine my love of riding with a local cause, and the Poker Run was created.  I have continued to organize the annual event to benefit the Placer Food Bank because the economy continues to impact so many families in our community,” Coplen said.

The ride will begin at the Roseville Yamaha at 10 a.m. and will weave throughout the foothills before returning to the Roseville dealership for a barbecue. The 71 mile route includes five “poker” stops where participants will collect their poker hand. Interested riders are encouraged to download a registration form by visiting roseville-yamaha.com or you may also complete a registration form on the day of the ride, beginning at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $30 per single rider, $40 for 2-up riders and includes a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning as well as post-ride barbecue and live music. All proceeds from the ride will go to benefit Placer Food Bank programs.
