Main Street Theatre Works Celebrates Their 10th Summer Season

Main Street Theatre Works continues to celebrate their 10th Summer Season at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre in Jackson with Sherlock’s Last Case, by Charles Marowitz.

Performances are Friday and Saturday nights from August 9th through September 7th.  Doors open at 6:30 for picnics, show starts at 8:00.

Patrons are encouraged to come early with their picnics, chairs and jackets. The Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre is located on North Main Street in Jackson, next to the Country Squire Motel.

The setting for the amphitheatre is truly spectacular. Located on the historic Kennedy Mine property, patrons walk past an old tailing wheel (used when the mine was in operation), across an old bridge, into a grass-covered terraced bowl, surrounded by majestic oaks. There the stage is set for picnicking and enjoying professional quality productions. You are truly sitting on a gold mine, enjoying live theatre under the stars.

Main Street Theatre Works is a professionally oriented theatre company, performing in the heart of Amador County. Now in their 19th season, and their 10th at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre, MSTW continues to be dedicated to bringing professional and community theatre artists together to produce classical and contemporary plays, striving for a balance that stimulates both artists and audiences.

Sherlock’s Last Case puts the great detective, Sherlock Holmes, in the center of the action, when he receives a death threat from the son of his late nemesis, Professor Moriarty. The plot then twists and turns until Holmes finds himself imprisoned in a dank cellar and left to die. But this is classic Sherlock, so there are always surprises and, in Sherlock’s Last Case, lots of laughs, all leading to a stunning final twist that will surely catch you by complete and breath-stopping surprise.

Ticket Prices:
  • Adults - $17.50
  • Students/Children 18 & under - $12.00
  • Family Pack (2 adults/2 students) - $49.00

Quizons Customer Appreciation Day August 15th To Benefit The Soldiers Project

On Thursday, August 15, from 10a.m. to 9p.m.. participating Quiznos will offer any small sub for just $1.00 with the purchase of a drink. Customers will have the option to upgrade to a regular sub for $2.99.

A portion of every sandwich sale on August 15th will benefit The Soldiers Project, a non-profit organization that brings free, confidential mental health services to active-duty military and veterans of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and their loved ones.

“This is definitely a win-win for both Quiznos and The Soldiers Project,” said Becca Bettis, program director
for The Soldier Project in Sacramento and the Greater Placer area. “This customer appreciation day will
allow Quiznos to thank its patrons and give us the opportunity to educate the community about what we do
for military members and their families.”

Every dollar raised for The Soldiers Project on August 15 will stay within the Sacramento and Greater Placer community and will be used to provide psychological treatment to military service members and their loved ones who have served or who expect to serve in conflict.

The Soldier Project volunteers will be on hand at each restaurant to distribute information, answer questions and accept additional donations.

Named by the White House in 2012 as one of the nation’s top 20 military service organizations, The
Soldiers Project of Sacramento and Greater Placer County is comprised of about 45 volunteer therapists
who last year gave nearly 1,000 hours of free treatment to soldiers and their families. Its unlimited services
go beyond those provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs medical system.
