And, speaking of brunches...Sequoia!

Our advertising director, Debra Linn, and her family recently enjoyed Easter Brunch at Sequoia Here's a little mini-review from Sequoia's Easter Brunch!

"The setting could not have been nicer for our family's Easter Brunch at Sequoia. We were seated in a room with a beautiful view of the back patio - although all the rooms at Sequoia have their own wonderful charm. We were promptly greeted with Mimosas and coffee before our adventure at the buffet! The offerings from Sequoia's buffet were plentiful, unusual and just plain yummy. There was an omelet station and a carving station with both Roast Beef and Lamb! Lamb is one of my favorites so I was quite happy. But of course I had to taste almost everything which included, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and several other warm dishes. Salads included fruit, pasta, green and a beautiful display of baby veggies with a caper sauce that I could have just eaten as a pudding it was good! Shrimp and crab was fresh and fabulous and even though I had no room left for dessert I couldn't pass up the decadent brownies, cream puffs and even a mini pecan tart! There was more food but no more room in my very happy tummy.

I spoke to David, the general manager of Sequoia, to compliment his team on a wonderful meal -- he mentioned that in addition to their regular brunch, they brand new and extensive menu along with weekly specials. They won't disappoint!"

Not only does Sequoia have wonderful food and drink, did you know that they also have fun events, open to everyone? Some do have costs involved, but they sound pretty darned cool:

Wine Down Wednesday -- every Wednesday starting at 4 p.m.

Salsa Dancing and Lessons -- Every Wednesday, except the first Wednesday of the Month

Comedy Showcases

Cooking Classes

Wine Dinners

Dimple Records' Record Store Day to Support Homelss & At-Risk Youth

In every issue of our Style magazines, we love to put in local community events, and have a particular soft spot for events that allow people and businesses to give back to the community. Unfortunately, we sometimes hear about these events after our magazines go to print, so we aren't able to alert our readers to them...until now. One of the purposes of our blog will be to highlight these types of events, so here goes:

Who: Dimple Records & Diogenes Youth Services (non-profit that has helped local homeless & at risk youth for 40 years)

What: “Record Store Day” is taking place. Record Store Days is when independently owned record stores around the world join together with artists to celebrate the art of music. In addition to providing live music, give-away’s, etc. Dimple is using this day as a way to raise awareness for Diogenes Youth Services. Dimple is donating a third of all local sponsor dollars directly to Diogenes.

When: Saturday, April 18th

Where: Dimple is celebrating Record Store Day at all 6 of its stores (Sacramento/Arden, Citrus Heights, Roseville, Folsom, Elk Grove, and Davis)

Editor's Note: There are two Dimple stores near our area:
