RockSTAR Music Education takes over Halftime Bar & Grill as elementary school rock bands from around Placer County gather to live out their rock ‘n’ roll fantasies on Wednesday and Thursday, December 18th and 19th from 6:30-7:30p.m. for RockSTAR’s 2nd Annual Winter Showcase.
RockSTAR Music Education, a subdivision of California-based non-profit enrichment and education organization STAR Education, has made it possible for these practiced young musicians to live the dream as they showcase what they’ve learned playing both the classics we love and even their own original songs.
Over 500 people are expected to show up to celebrate these pint-sized rockers’ musical talents, hard work and dedication. These 6-12 year olds are revved up and ready to rock; decked out in funky clothes, dyed hair, and fake tattoos. The venue will be packed throughout the evening as friends, fans, family and music education enthusiasts gather in support of Sacramento’s RockSTAR mini-musicians!
STAR Education, is a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization committed to helping students reach their full potential by offering affordable extended academic, recreational and enrichment programs; supporting and enhancing school curricula; inspiring student achievement; and expanding the cultural base of young people. For over 25 years, STAR has partnered with schools throughout California to involve students in our innovative, quality programs taught by exceptional, highly- trained instructors.
RockSTAR, a STAR Education program, was founded nine years ago with the fundamental mission of bringing music back into schools that had slashed their own music programs because of budget cuts. With celebrity support from such rock icons as The Black Keys, Slash, Santana, Britney Spears, Taylor Dayne, DMC, Chris Slade of AC/DC, Gene Simmons, Sammy Hagar and more, this is the most established and effective after school music program in California. By harnessing the cognitive, social and creative benefits of music education, RockSTAR allows children to learn, live large, let loose, hone musical skills, practice teamwork, and develop a sense of professionalism. Their programs are in over 100 elementary schools in California, Tennessee and New York. RockSTAR brings music education back into schools and into the lives of children through an exciting, innovative and relevant format.
