Two camp sessions will be offered June 10-13 and July 8-11. The four day program, which takes place 9-4:30p.m. daily, includes professional guides/educators in a low student-teacher ratio, ropes course and zip line experience, scrumptious meals, industry standard rafts and personal flotation gear, insurance, shuttles and a lifetime of memories.
Camper’s safety and fun are the number one priority. JG will educate your child about safe behavior around moving water, while showing them the time of their lives. JG rafting partner, All Outdoors, have been guiding raft trips for 50 years and has an unparalleled record of safety. Campers will enjoy days rafting, exploring the river environment, making new friends, and fun cooperative games.
Junior Guides strives to instill the following values in their program:
ADVENTURE- Nothing beats being on the river during the warmest part of summer. Who doesn’t enjoy the splash of cool water and the thrill of running rapids? It is our hope are that our programs will instill a love of nature and adventure that last a lifetime.
TEAMWORK- Rafting is a team sport. The entire river trip requires the cooperation of the group. The on water activities and games encourage cooperation, build confidence and ultimately enhance self-esteem. Lasting friendships are formed when people play outside together and have a shared sense of purpose.
LEADERSHIP- Because the river is a dynamic system, leaders are needed to model safe water behaviors. We help students create a voice, incorporate feedback from their peers, and learn to communicate in a respectful way, as they direct their teammate’s actions in the raft.
Program designers, river guides, and parents Sarah Canfield and Spencer Rubin founded Junior Guides in 2012 as a platform in which to foster adventure, community, water safety and leadership in our future river stewards. Through their own guide experiences, they learned about camaraderie, leadership, teamwork and love for adventure that they have carried into all aspects of their lives and want to share this experience with our youth.
