The City of Roseville’s Environmental Utilities Department partnered with San Francisco-based technology company WaterSmart Software, whose behavior-based water efficiency program has been shown to reduce water use by as much as 5 percent in just 6 months. WaterSmart sends residents personalized Home Water Reports that track household water use, compare usage to neighbors, and suggest water saving techniques.
As part of the new pilot program, 4,000 residential water customers served by the City may sign up on the City’s website, at roseville.ca.us/waterinsight, to view their water use information online and receive WaterSmart’s Home Water Reports. Residents can view how their household’s water consumption compares to homes with similar needs and learn simple ways to use water more efficiently. Enrollment is first come, first served with the expectation that the program will fill up fast.
“Roseville’s Environmental Utilities Department is proud to bring this new state-of-the-art technology to our customers,” said Ed Kriz, Interim Environmental Utilities Director. “With improved visibility into our water use and targeted advice on the most effective ways to use water more efficiently, we all can reduce our water use significantly in 2013.”
Environmental Utilities is Roseville's provider of water, waste water and refuse utility service. Environmental Utilities also provides environmentally friendly programs for Roseville's residents and businesses that help promote recycling, water conservation, storm water management and proper disposal of household hazardous waste.
