A Call to Artists…and BBQ fans!

Have a hankering for all-day barbecue, beer and bands?

Then make sure you head to historic downtown Lincoln for Ribfest on September 12.

Hosted by the Lincoln Arts and Culture Foundation, the event is also a Call to Artists who wish to showcase and sell their work. The booth fee is $40. There will also be a beer garden and car show.

And if you can’t make that date, you can still get barbecue and hear six popular bands from northern and southern California at the first Day on the Green. Boogie to bands like One Drop Redemption (Bob Marley tribute band), Sacred Fire (Santana tribute band), Tempus Fury ('80s and '90s rock), Private Criminals (alternative rock), Cold Sweat (classic rock) and Highway 49 (Blues).

"We will have a barbecue, but families who want to bring picnic baskets with their own food are welcome to do so,” said Claudia Renati, Lincoln Arts Executive Director. “We hope that everyone will come out and support it. If they do, it could become another of our annual events.”

The Fountains at Roseville's First Friday Street Fair and Concert Series

Just as Roseville’s Downtown Tuesday night street fair ends for the summer, the Fountains at Roseville steps up to fill the entertainment for as long as the warm nights continue.

Through September 30, the Fountains will host a “First Friday” street fair and Wednesday and Saturday night concerts from 7 to 9 p.m.

The First Friday features a farmers market, street fair, country-dance lessons, an on-stage dance exhibition and karaoke.

And if that wasn’t enough, every second Saturday through October, the Fountains host a Kids Club with entertainment crafts at 10 a.m. The August 8 event will feature back-to-school crafts and face painting.

So yes, I’m happy to report that the Fountains at Roseville has pretty much everything. But if we had to put in one wish list item, it would be that the stores didn't close quite so early! Come on, we're girls, and we like to shop!

Below are the band lineups for August:

8/19 Doug Pauly Trio Jazz

8/26 PointDexter Indie, Alt Rock

Sharon & Digger Williams Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage!

Fifty years in love…and counting.

Congratulations to the longtime Folsom couple and active community members, Jim and Sharon Digger, on their Golden anniversary! The first time Jim “Digger” Williams saw his wife, Sharon, he told himself that she was the woman he was going to marry. And he did, over 50 years ago. The couple recently reaffirmed their vows at the Rolling Hills Christian Church on 800 White Rock Road in El Dorado Hills.

Digger and Sharon have been blessed with three children, Sharee, James and Caree. They were married in Canton, Ohio, and have lived in Folsom since 1960. Throughout the years, they’ve always put Christ at the center of their lives.

The couple has been involved in several volunteer activities and organizations in the area, including the Folsom Chamber of Commerce where they won the Wall of Fame award, and the Pro Rodeo in which they’ve been active participants for 49 years. They’ve also been awarded the Couple of the Year, the Grand Marshalls of the Rodeo 2007, and the Lions Club Award, just to name a few.

Congrats!

My New Bike ROCKS!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so... here's a picture of my new bike. I feel like a bitchin' little girl when I'm riding it.

Needless to say, I love my new bike!

It's the Betty bike (Electra cruiser) from Bicycles Plus!

Keep your mitts off my bike -- go get your own! ;)

That's all I've got to say.
