Enjoy Art at the Downtown Roseville Library

Painter Sondra Hersh (work featured above) and writer Joan Stockbridge share their collaborative efforts on River Walks, a visual and poetic record of the American River’s North Fork from January 16 - March 9.

Also enjoy works by Ms. Hersh’s art students.

The library is located at 225, Taylor Street in Roseville.

And, there is an artists' reception on February 20, 6 - 9 p.m. at Downtown Roseville Library, 225 Taylor St. in Roseville.

Check out Friday Night Winter Wine-Down at David Girard Vineyards!

The tasting room at David Girard Vineyards will be open late on Friday nights starting tomorrow night, Friday, January 29th.

Everyone (over 21 of course!) is invited to come in for a glass of wine, light snacks and live music.
Music starts at 5:30 p.m. and the event ends at 8:30 p.m. No cover charge.

Take Note Troupe Presents The Melodies and Memories of Laura Ingalls Wilder


Announcing the return to a favorite original Take Note Troupe production, The Melodies and Memories of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

This playful, family-friendly show takes us back to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life, childhood and music through the stories and memories of literary legend Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Tickets are now on sale for Friday and Saturday, January 29th and 30th, at the J.B. Gale Theater at Roseville High School; and Friday and Saturday February 5th and 6th at the Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center (Old State Theater).

Evening shows begin at 7:30pm with additional Saturday Performances at 3:30pm and 5:30pm.

Matinee tickets costs $6 in advance or $8 at the door. Evening shows $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Sacramento Opera Presents "Celebrate our Chorus" Event for Donors


Sacramento Opera presents “Celebrate Our Chorus,” a special event for Sacramento Opera donors at the $250 and up level on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 7 pm, Trinity Lutheran Church, 1500 27th Street, Sacramento.

Chorus Master Ming Luke (pictured above) will speak about the Sacramento Opera’s upcoming production of La Traviata, the play and book upon which the opera was based, and the role of the chorus in the production. Donors will sit in on a live chorus rehearsal with Mr. Luke providing explanations of the rehearsal process. Program is approximately one hour.

Ming Luke is the Chorus Master for the Sacramento Opera, Director and Conductor for the Berkeley Symphony's education programs, Music Director of the Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra, Associate Conductor of the Modesto Symphony, and the General Director of the Napa Valley Youth Symphony. Prior to his appointments in Northern California, he was a staff conductor for the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and helped prepare the choir for such conductors as Charles Dutoit, André Previn, Mariss Jansons, Michael Stern, and Lucas Richman. Ming Luke holds a Master of Fine Arts in Conducting from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University.

Nugget Market and Food 4 Less Stores Raise Funds to Help Haiti


Starting this past Wednesday, January 20 and running through Tuesday, February 2, all Nugget Markets and the Woodland, Cameron Park, and Vallejo Food 4 Less stores will be accepting monetary donations at the checkstands for the American Red Cross's efforts to provide relief, aid and supplies to earthquake victims in Haiti.

While paying for their groceries at the checkstands, shoppers will have the opportunity to donate any amount to the relief program, and that tax-deductible dollar amount will be recorded on the sales receipt.

In addition to donations received at the checkstands, Nugget Markets, Inc. will donate a matching contribution of $5,000 to the American Red Cross for the Haiti earthquake relief efforts.

Gold Discover Day


What are you doing today? How about discovering gold? Well, kind of...

Today from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at at Marshall Gold Discovery Park celebrate the anniversary of James Marshall's momentous discovery of gold in the trailrace of Sutter's Mill.

The park commemorates the historic event every year with living history, interactive period trade demonstrations, music and programs featuring the activities of that day and the building of Sutter's Saw Mill.
