The Bowling Stones...our summer bowling league!

This past summer (I cannot believe that it's almost entirely over -- oh, where did it go?!), we got the bright idea to a company team together and join a bowling league at Folsom Lake Bowl.

Can I just tell you that while we were the eighth best team (that's the nice way of saying we came in dead last!), I must tell you that we were the best dressed team there, and I daresay we had the most fun. We may have annoyed our fellow leaguers just a bit because we would hoot, holler and yes, I'd get a little giddy, anytime we'd even get near a spare or a strike (not to mention the celebrated gutterball!).

On our last evening of the summer bowling league, the "boys" (our graphic design team of Gary, John and Aaron) decided to dress even more in costume (our matching bowling shirts bearing our team name of the Bowling Stones just wasn't enough for them) by coming as a chicken, bunny and gorilla respectively. We thought it was one of the funniest things ever. Not sure our fellow bowlers got as big of a kick out of it as we did, but oh well -- you cannot blame us for trying to have some fun.

While a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is just priceless (the boys were in costume to pick up, of all things, chicken for the potluck -- so fabulous!). Enjoy!

Job well done Bowling Stones! Until next summer!

Lakeside Luxury Benefit Event

A Special Blog Post from our Friends at Memory Journalists and Dynamite Weddings.

As we start to wrap up this fleeting summer season, let's take advantage of a picturesque summer evening on a serene mountain lake to enjoy splendid weather, fine food, great wine, some music you can groove to and give back to a notable cause here in our community.

Come to Lakeside Luxury, a charity event at Ice Lakes Lodge in Soda Springs, CA for Saturday, Sept. 19th, 4-9 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to Shriners Hospital for Children, Sacramento. We are anxious to share the amazing lakeside views at Ice Lakes Lodge, complemented by an evening filled with elegant wines, delicious food, an eclectic silent auction, great music and dancing. This event is hosted by The Memory Journalists and Exquisite Events & Entertainment with sponsorship by Style Media Group.

This event will benefit children in need of services that only an amazing hospital like Shriners can offer: "Children up to the age of 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment at no financial obligation to patients or families." While many acknowledge such outstanding places exist, most don't understand the importance of such a first rate hospital unless they are in a situation that forces them to utilize such services. Let's make sure that this generosity continues to support children and families in need.

Ice Lakes Lodge has been generous enough to offer a discount on rooms for this event, available at $139 + tax. There are only 34 rooms available so be sure to contact Linda today for your room at 530.426.3871, mentioning Lakeside Luxury. We also have Lakeside Luxury special transportation rates available from Luxury Limousines of Sacramento. They are offering their party bus with a pick up near Highway 80 with a rate of $67/person. There's enough room for 25 people. Get your friends together and contact me via email or phone (916.212.0665) to reserve your seat on the bus today!

For ticket information, visit LakesideLuxury.blogspot.com.

Check out the amazing attached invitation, created by the creative Stephanie Cooley of Stephanie J Designs!

If you can't make the event, but would like to make a donation to the event, please send your donation to: The Memory Journalists, ATTN: Lakeside Luxury Event, P.O. Box 6960, Folsom, CA 95763 or contact me via phone or email to coordinate.

Thanks for your support!

Puppy Love at Woofstock!

Do you love the 60s? How about dogs?

If yes, then you had better not miss the Nor Cal Woofstock on September 13, a day just for pooches and their owners to express their inner flower child and support local canine rescue services.

And you had better set aside the whole day because there will be just too much to do. From the looks of the schedule, you and your pup will be pretty tuckered out by the end.

Just imagine…the day starts off with a delicious Pancake Breakfast at 7 a.m. Yum! Then you work off all those calories at the 3K/5K Walk/Run Team Fundraiser and finally freshen up with an Extreme Doggy Makeover.

Contests and games will be held throughout the day, and as the name implies, they are all dog themed. We at Style think you should check out the Human Barking and Mug vs. Mug Look Alike contests. Youtube anyone?

Also, be sure to dress up your pup in his or her finest poncho and beads because there will be a 60s Costume Contest.

And if one Woofstock isn’t enough for you…the event will take place again on October 4 in El Dorado Hills.

Go to woofstocknorcal.com for complete event listings and times for both events.

Save Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park!

Don’t you just love going to the park when you want to escape from the hassles of the everyday hustle and bustle, or to simply spend time with your family, friends, or even your pets?

One particular park we at Style know a lot of people are very fond of is Marshall Gold Discovery State Park in Coloma.

Unfortunately, the park is slated for closure after Labor Day! Just think, 70,000+ school children who visit every year could now be unable to do so! The Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park is one of the most significant historic parks in the state of California, if not west of the Missouri river.

Help us to help the Coloma/Lotus Chamber of Commerce keep the park open! To find out how, visit keepsuttersmillopen.org....now!

And to show your support, make it a plan to come out to the “Media Day” and Press Conference in the Park (Assemblyman Ted Gaines office) Tuesday, September 1st at 10 a.m. Come and help show a good turn out - don't be late it only lasts 20 minutes!
