January & February 2013 Programs at Fairytale Town

January and February are filled with events at Fairytale Town!

E-Waste Collection Day
Saturday, January 12  from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Support Fairytale Town and rid your home of e-waste for the New Year! Old televisions, monitors, laptops, computers, printers, scanners and more are wanted for donation to Fairytale Town's e-waste collection fundraiser. Items will be collected in a drive-thru format in the parking lot behind Fairytale Town, off of 15th avenue. Volunteers will be available to help unload items. All items collected will be recycled. Princess Academy
Saturday, January 19 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo! Little princesses-in-training will learn the magical secrets of being a fairytale princess in this one-day workshop for ages 5 to 8. Princesses will play dress up, attend a pink tea party and decorate delicious treats to enjoy. From princess etiquette and attire to royal manners and social skills, this fairytale-fun workshop has everything a budding princess needs, including a Fairy Godmother. Super H.E.R.O. School
Sunday, January 20 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Superheroes Assemble! In a one-day workshop for ages 4 to 8, young heroes will learn the importance of bravery, honor and respect while engaging in a dynamic discussion of their favorite superheroes, both real and fictional. The workshop also includes an energizing hero snack and an introduction to super hero stretching techniques and exercises. Heroes then design and create their own secret identity, special powers and costumes. Male and female heroes are welcome. This program is $25 per hero. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Monday, January 21 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Fairytale Town will be open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Holiday admission is $5 for adults and children ages 2 and older. Children ages 1 and under are free. For more information, visit fairytaletown.org or call (916) 808-7462.

Sacramento Museum Day 
Saturday, February 2 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sacramento Museum Day returns for a 15th year with half-price or free admission at 30 museums! A Sacramento cultural tradition, Sacramento Museum Day is designed to encourage all members of the community to experience the region's incredible wealth of art, history, science and wildlife at little cost. This hugely popular community event is presented by the Sacramento Association of Museums. Fairytale Town will be offering half-price admission on Sacramento Museum Day. Lincoln's Birthday
Monday, February 11 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Fairytale Town will be open on Lincoln's Birthday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Holiday admission is $5 for adults and children ages 2 and older. Children ages 1 and under are free. For more information, visit fairytaletown.org or call (916) 808-7462.

Presidents Day
Monday, February 18 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Free E-Waste Recycling Drive

Free E-Waste recycling drive fundraiser to benefit Byers Roseville Gymnastics Club.

Saturday, June 2, 2012, 9am-1pm at Byers Gymnastics, Roseville.

Sponsored by CEAR (California Electronic Asset Recovery).

They will accept: monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook PCs, VCRs, stereo equipment, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, zip drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, laser and multifunction scanners, fax machines, toasters, mixers, blenders, microwaves and vacuum cleaners (without bags).

They cannot accept: household appliances (i.e. refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.), furniture, hazardous household waste including batteries, car batteries, paint, pesticides, used oil, cleaning supplies, fluorescent light bulbs, tires, etc.

Free Electronic Waste Collection This Saturday!


The City of Roseville, in partnership with Sims Recycling Solutions, Pacific Records Management and NEC Electronics America, will be accepting and collecting electronic waste and providing a free document shredding service from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16 at the NEC Electronics America facility, 7501 Foothills Blvd.

Proceeds from the electronic waste collection will be donated to the IDEAscape, a planned outdoor extension of the Roseville Utility Exploration located between the Martha Riley Community Library and Kaseberg Creek. Construction is set to begin in 2011.

Acceptable electronic waste includes the following items:

- Computer monitors/TVs

- Hard drives and electronic waste will either go through a 7 pass wiping process or shredded into small pieces down to the size of a dime eliminating all risks involved with data security and identity theft.

- Desktop/notebook PCs

- Small electronic equipment: VCRs, stereos, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, zip drives, telephones, cell phones, video game consoles, etc.

- Printers/copiers

- Laser and multi-function peripherals such as scanners and fax machines

- Household batteries

The following items will NOT be accepted:

- Household appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, etc.

- Furniture

- Hazardous household waste including, but not limited to, automotive batteries, paint, pesticides, used oil, cleaning supplies, tires, fluorescent light bulbs, etc.
