City of Roseville's Project Play

Since we're on the topic of universally accessible playgrounds...we're proud to support The City of Roseville's Project Play!

Also partnering with Shane's Inspiration, The City of Roseville has planned three universally accessible playgrounds; one for Mahany, Maidu, and Royer Parks. Roseville is undertaking a fundraising drive to raise $1.2 million to make these dreams come true. This funding will be combined with City resources to achieve the $2.2 million necessary to design, build, and maintain the playgrounds.

On Thursday June 25, 2009 at 4 p.m., you're invited to the dedication of Project Play's first universally accessible playground at Mahany Park!

To find out more about Project Play, log on to The City of Roseville's Web site: http://www.roseville.ca.us/parks/universally_accessible_playgrounds.asp or contact the project manager Jeff Dubchansky, Assistant Parks & Recreation Director at (916) 774-5245 or by email at jdubchansky@roseville.ca.us.

Please help us support these wonderful gems for our communities!

Play for All Community Meeting on June 17, 2009

A couple of years ago, my husband Terry and I became acquainted with an organization called "Shane's Inspiration." (www.shanesinspiration.org)

Their mission: to build playgrounds where children with disabilities could play right alongside their able-bodied peers.

We took on the mission of trying to build the first playground of this kind in Folsom -- and "Play for All" was born.

Check out the Play for All Web site at www.folsomplayforall.com

Practically the second we made this mission known, The Rotary Club of Historic Folsom (also known as the morning club) passionately embraced this dream with us and has been a close partner ever since.

During the past three years, others have also joined the mission, namely The City of Folsom, and so many wonderful individuals in the community.

We recently were awarded a grant that will help get us started on this wonderful playground. Won't you please join us for a special community meeting to update everyone on the status of the playground, to learn more about Play for All and how you can get involved?

We'll see you on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at the Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma Street (next to City Hall). Light refreshments will be served!

To find out more about Play for All, email us at terry@stylemg.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
