Placer SPCA's BBQ & Blues Event

Looking for something fun to do tomorrow night?

Check out the 20th Annual BBQ & Blues event benefiting the Placer SPCA.

According to a recent press release, "to close out the 20th Annual BBQ & Blues, the Placer SPCA has scored blues legend Curtis Salgado as the headline act. Salgado has long been recognized as one of America’s finest blues/soul singers. His most recent album was 2008’s critically acclaimed “Clean Getaway.” In past years, headliners included blues greats Koko Taylor, Elvin Bishop, Edgar Winter, Joe Louis Walker, and Pinetop Perkins. Charlie Thomas from 96.9 the Eagle and Nick Toma of CW-31's "Good Day Sacramento" will act as the event emcees, and will also show off their blues grooves in the All-Star Band on the Constable Jack’s local entertainment stage.
With eight hours of music, BBQ & Blues is a great deal for music lovers at a reduced price of just $20 in advance or $30 at the gate. The event also includes vendors, great food, and the gorgeous setting of the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. All proceeds benefit the Placer SPCA in its efforts to fulfill its vision: that every adoptable companion animal in Placer County has a home."

Run, Tom, Run!

A life-long friend.

A shocking diagnosis.

26 miles.

What does it take to get you out of your routine and on a different kind of track? Tom Mailey, of the Pat and Tom Show on KNCI and one of our very own here at Style, will be running a marathon on July 3rd for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

He will also be running for Doug Beaulieu; friends since the third grade, Tom wanted to do something to support Doug, an avid runner, when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last fall.

Thankfully, Doug’s chemo treatment has been effective, and things are looking up for him! Tom hopes to raise money for research and awareness about the disease, of which little is known. So far, $2,164 has been pledged, but Tom is still looking for more sponsors.

The event will be broadcast live on Tom’s morning show- Tune in to KNCI New Country 105.1 on July 3rd to hear about his run!

To sponsor Tom or find out more about this run for a great cause, visit www.firstgiving.com/knci.

GO TOM GO! We'll be rooting for you the whole way!

Noodles has arrived in Roseville!

I first discovered Noodles & Company a few years ago when I was visiting my sister Wyn in Omaha, Nebraska.

Admittedly, I was instantly addicted -- my favorite? Penne Rosa, easy on the spice.

The bummer was, though, that the only time I could enjoy Noodles is when I would venture out to Omaha (not always the easiest travel destination from Sacramento!).

Then I heard that Noodles & Company was coming to The Fountains at Roseville and I immediately emailed my sister with shouts of joy! Today, in fact, is their OPENING DAY!!

Not only does Noodles have good food, they do good things for the community. In fact, on June 30th, they're hosting a benefit for the Roseville Firefighters Assocation where 100% of the sales will be donated. That's pretty darned cool!

So if you haven't tried Noodles, go soon! But, definitely go on June 30th from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. -- not only will you nourish your body, but by doing so, you'll help the community. But I warn you...you might get addicted to!

Please bring in the flyer (you can print out this blog I would think) or mention this fundraiser.

P.S. My birthday is this weekend and I'm off to Omaha to see Wyn. My birthday dinner request? Noodles in Omaha, of course.
