Chambers Team Up to Bring You the Non-Profit Showcase Mixer

The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Shingle Springs/Cameron Park Chamber and El Dorado County Chamber present the Non-Profit Showcase Mixer, Wednesday, October 10th, from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Suites and Hotel located at 4360 Town Center Blvd., El Dorado Hills.

El Dorado County is home to more that 450 non-profits with 300 of the 450 in the Western Slope of the County.  Non-profits have limited budgets and do not have the dollars to market or advertise for donations. We believe our community wants to support local and understand the challenges the non-profits have in reaching the residents.

They invite you, the citizens of the community to attend this very special non-profit showcase to find the organization that tugs at your heartstrings.  Thank you to the Holiday Inn who is hosting the location and providing light appetizers.  A no-host bar is provided by M.O.R.E.  RSVP’s are not needed.

If you are a non-profit that would like to participate, please contact the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce at 916.933.1335 or amanda@eldoradohillschamber.org.

Helen Reddy Comes to Three Stages

Well known as a recording artist, Helen Reddy, has had more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the United States. She was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and to have three #1 hits in the same year. She’s been on hiatus from performing publicly for over a decade; as of press time, she’s scheduled to begin her first tour of the West Coast in 10 years at Three Stages, performing a program of personal favorites in An Intimate Evening with Helen Reddy.

Executive Director Dave Pier noted that “Three Stages is proud to have Helen Reddy perform here as part of her return to the stage. Helen Reddy is no stranger to regional audiences. She has appeared three times in Sacramento Music Circus productions—as Edwin Drood/Miss Alice Nutting in The Mystery of Edwin Drood; as Mrs. Sally Adams in Call Me Madam and as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes.”

Helen Reddy will perform in Three Stages on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $29-$39, Premium tickets are available for $49; they may be purchased online at threestages.net or from Three Stages Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time.  Three Stages is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, facing East Bidwell Street.

Over the years, her Top Ten Hits in the US have included “I Am Woman,” “Delta Dawn,” “Leave Me Alone,” “You and Me Against The World,” “Angie Baby,” and many more.

Born into a well-known Australian show business family, Helen Reddy has had a life and a career richer and more varied than anything she could ever have imagined as a girl in Melbourne. She has dined on her birthday with the Prince of Wales, danced in the White House with the President of the United States, and had a tulip named after her in Holland.

In theater, Helen has starred in London’s West End and on Broadway in New York. As a solo concert artist, she has played at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, as well as the Royal Albert Hall and the Palladium in London. Helen was also the first western female performer invited to sing in the People’s Republic of China.

In film, her starring role in Disney’s Pete’s Dragon continues to delight the younger generation, while the lyrics she penned for her feminist anthem “I Am Woman” are now included in Modern American History high school textbooks. Besides the compilation, The Woman I Am: The Definitive Collection, most of Helen’s early recordings are now available for digital download worldwide.

Her best-selling memoir The Woman I Am (Tarcher/Penguin), reveals that at the height of her career, Helen’s world was shattered by the death of both her parents and, simultaneously, the news that she had a rare and incurable disease. A riveting, frank and ultimately brave memoir, she recounts the emotional highs and lows that have shaped her life as an artist and as a complex woman, with a rich inner life sustained by a strong spiritual faith.

Helen retired from live performance in 2002 and practiced as a clinical hypnotherapist and motivational speaker in her native Australia for ten years.  But after singing a duet with her sister at her sister’s 80th birthday party, Helen decided to come out of retirement in July, 2012 and return to the stage where, in addition to some of her hits, she now treats audiences to songs from her vast catalog she had never before performed live.

Please visit helenreddy.com for the latest news and concert dates. For more information about Three Stages visit threestages.net.
