Crocker Art Museum Hosts Annual Art Auction

The Crocker Art Museum will host the 35th annual Art Auction on Saturday, June 1, at 5:30 p.m.

One of the preeminent auctions of the region, this artful evening features work by more than 120 of the region’s most renowned artists.

The evening will kick off with a silent auction followed by a gourmet dinner catered by Supper Club at the Crocker and an exciting live auction. Alissa Ford of Heritage Auctions will return as the master auctioneer. Works of art in the silent and live auctions will are on display at crockerartmuseum.org/auction, and will be in the Museum beginning May 18.

This event is preceded by Big Names, Small Art on May 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. Both events comprise the 2013 Art Auction Season at the Crocker. Chair for the Art Auction Season is Paulette Trainor and Chair-elect is Michelle Sekula. Proceeds from these events support the exhibitions and education programs of the Crocker. General tickets for Art Auction are $150 per person. Patron tickets are $300.

Art Auction Season is sponsored by Genovese Burford and Brothers in partnership with River City Bank. The Crocker Art Museum was the first art museum in the Western U.S. and is one of the leading art museums in California today. Established in 1885, the Museum features one of the country’s finest collections of Californian art, exceptional holdings of master drawings, a comprehensive collection of international ceramics, as well as European, Asian, African and Oceanic art.

The Crocker is located at 216 O Street in Downtown Sacramento. Museum hours are 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Tuesday–Sunday; 10 a.m.–9 p.m., Thursdays. 2012 KVIE Art Auction

KVIE Public Television is pleased to announce that its annual 3-day televised art auction, gala preview party and online art auction will be held this September!

Celebrating KVIE’s thirty-one years of creating an accessible venue to bring art into the homes of Northern Californians, the 2012 KVIE Art Auction will showcase over 300 works of art by emerging, well-known and world-renown Northern California artists. This year, the Auction is sponsored by The Niello Company and Mansour’s Oriental Rug Gallery.

First, guests can explore all art offered for bidding, celebrate and meet inspiring local artists, enjoy fine wines provided by partner Amador Vintners Association, and sample hors d’oeuvres and desserts from local restaurants at the 2012 KVIE Art Auction Preview Gala on Monday, September 24 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. The live, three-day Auction broadcast consists of works by renowned artists from our region (The Masters Collection including Carrie Cottini, Eric Dahlin, Emily Elders, Clayton Pinkerton, David Post) and works entered into and accepted through a jury process. This year’s category jurors are: Russ Solomon, Gregory Kondos, Gary Pruner, Avery Palmer, Annie Murphy-Robinson and Liv Moe, with First Place Awards being selected by juror Matt Bult. The Auction starts Friday, September 28 from 8pm to 11pm and continues Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30, from noon to 10pm.
 
A complete list of winners and art accepted into the collection will be available online beginning August 1, 2012 at kvie.org/artauction.
