Cutest Dog Contest

Think your pooch could be the nation’s cutest dog?

We at Style tend to think ours are too (be sure to check out our newest issue for our annual People and their Pets photo feature!).

Now you have a chance to prove it by uploading a photo of your canine to cutestdogcompetition.com for a chance to win a grand prize of $1 million.

For 12 weeks the public can vote for a weekly winner who will receive $500 and be a semi-finalist. Three out of four top finalists will continue on to panel of three judges who will then choose the winner. The owners of the “Cutest Dog” will receive the prize on Thanksgiving Day. Contestants can begin uploading photos on August 1.

To scope out the competition, I visited the site’s cutest dog gallery to see photos from last year’s contest, the Bow Wow Million Dollar Look-a-Like. Photos included a Pomeranian wearing a pink boa to a Chihuahua with a blue scalp. But not all were exotic studio portraits. The majority of the pictures showed owners cuddled up cheek to cheek with their pup. But make sure you vote with caution. Clicking through pages of dewy-eyed labs and fluffy Maltese just about made me consider a quick drive down to the nearest SPCA.

To enter, all you have to do is register, upload a photo, and vote.

The contest is hosted by the All American Pet Company, DOG.com, iBeatYou.com and PromotingGroup.com. Deadline for submissions is October 23, 2009.

Now excuse me, I need to go decide which photo of my adorable, fluffy Bichon Frise to upload. Who, undoubtedly will win.
