Formerly known as the Maidu Interpretive Center, the Maidu Museum and Historic Site celebrates its Opening Day. The museum recognizes the culture, traditions and complexity of the area’s first peoples. With nature trails, petroglyphs, exhibits and guided tours the new facility is a great place for families, schools and friends.

Since the Center opened in 2001, staff have been aggressively seeking grants for a permanent building. Nearly $2 million in grants has been raised, which will be matched by the Citywide Park Fund and the Public Facilities Fund, both of which are funded through developer impact fees tied to commercial and residential construction.
