Also in town and the guest of honor, San Francisco native and Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane and wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, headlined the grand opening of the brand new, larger Kiehl’s at Fillmore Street on June 18. The event began with a motorcycle “stroll” through the City, which ended appropriately at the Kiehl’s storefront.
The event also marked Kiehl’s 160th anniversary. “McSteamy” took photographs and signed photos for many fans while Kiehl’s honored Dane by donating $10,000 to the San Francisco nonprofit, Homeless Prenatal Program.
The mission of the Homeless Prenatal Program is to end the vicious cycle of child poverty. In 1989 the program began by supporting pregnant and homeless women in an effort to get many of them sober so that they could deliver healthy babies. But HPP does even more, they help women to believe in themselves again, and help children make positive changes in their own lives so that they are more likely to do well in school, become productive members of the community, and end the generational cycle of poverty and homelessness which they were born into. Many HPP clients say they are grateful for the strength they gained to not give up because of the Program.
