Artists from all over the West Coast will be represented with styles from realistic to abstract in subjects ranging from portraits and still lifes to landscapes in this outstanding exhibition.
CWA exists to create, foster, and sustain interest in the art of water media painting; to sponsor educational programs, displays and exhibitions; to increase the skills of its members; and to further the understanding and appreciation of water media art on the part of its members and the general public.
CWA holds numerous member shows annually, as well as the National Annual Exhibition, which is open to all water media artists in the United States and Canada. All shows are juried by nationally known artists and attract a large viewing public.
The juror for this exhibit at the Gallery at 48 Natoma is Pablo Villicana-Lara. Prizes from First Place to Honorable Mentions will be awarded. Mr. Villicana-Lara’s work is highly regarded having received numerous awards including Best of Show for the Society of Western Artists, many awards with the California Watercolor Association, the American Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society and the International Guild of Realism.
Local artists will also have an opportunity to display their work at the adjacent Community Gallery at 48 Natoma. A variety of mediums including watercolors, oil paintings, ceramics and jewelry from the El Dorado Hills Arts Association will be on display from May 11 to June 28, 2012. This is a preview of their Annual Open Studio Tour which will take place in Shingle Springs, Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills and Folsom on June 2 and 3.
This is a great time to see a sample of the terrific art being created in our community. The Gallery at 48 Natoma offers the art on exhibit for sale as well as a wide selection of unique smaller gift items including jewelry, blown glass, wood pens and more displayed in their lobby.
This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase original professional artwork from around the region that might not be available elsewhere.
The opening reception for both exhibits will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The exhibits are free and open to the public and art is available for purchase. Hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm with additional hours on Thursday nights from 6:00-8:00pm. Group and free school tours can be arranged by appointment.
