The El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society meeting Wednesday, September 18, presenting speaker will be Denise Damm . The topic is the website Fold3.
Fold3.com is a generally underused source with a wealth of information and images of original documents from the National Archives.
The presentation will show how to maneuver through the website and introduce them to some of the records that are available.
Denise Damm has 20 years of experience doing family history research on the Internet in both the northern and southern parts of the United States from colonial times to the 1930's. She attended classes through Monterey Peninsula College in Family History with a goal to become an Accredited Credentialed Genealogist.
Her research has extended to military records, city directories, land records, probate records, naturalization, church records, newspapers and county histories. Research outside the US has extended to Quebec, France and Scotland. She served as the president of the Sutter Yuba Genealogical Society, a commissioner for the Sutter County Memorial Library, and has volunteered in the Yuba City County Department of Human Services. Denise also enjoys combining vacations with her husband to locations that have significance to their family history and doing research at that local level.
EDHGS meets the 3rd Wednesday monthly, except December, in the Community Roof of El Dorado Hills Branch Library, 7455 Silva Valley Parkway. Meetings begin promptly at 6:15 p.m., but plan to arrive by
6 p.m. to allow time to check in and talk informally with other members before the general meeting begins.
Visitors are welcome!
