Friday, April 17 -- Free documentary premiere: "Entertaining Dreams for a Century: Roseville in the Rose Parade" 5 p.m., Magic Circle Theatre, 241 Vernon St. Remarks by Mayor Gina Garbolino and 1940 Tournament of Roses Queen Margaret Huntley Main, presentation of Governor’s Trophy by Tournament of Roses officials, and Rose Parade movie premiere. DVD available for purchase, $7.

Saturday, April 18 -- Union Pacific "Then & Now" locomotives on display Noon-3 p.m., Railroad yard along Atlantic Street at Vernon Street Get a rare view of the Union Pacific steam-powered locomotive No. 844 which traveled from Cheyenne, Wyo., in honor of Roseville’s Centennial. The No. 844 was the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific, and was delivered in 1944. Known as UP’s “Living Legend” since being put into special service in 1960, No. 844 has run hundreds of miles as UP’s ambassador of goodwill. On display will also be UP’s newest low-emission vehicle, a Genset Switcher, other engines from the heritage fleet, the Union Pacific mini-train, and handcar demonstrations. Visitors will be allowed to view the trains from the railyard; no interior tours will be offered. Restaurants will be open along Vernon Street and in Historic Old Town Roseville for visitor dining.

Saturday, April 18 -- Free documentary premiere “Roseville, California: A Centennial Perspective” 5-6:15 p.m., Magic Circle Theatre, 241 Vernon St. Premiere of documentary produced by the City of Roseville Communications Division highlighting the people, places and events of Roseville’s remarkable 100-year history. DVD available for purchase, $7.

National Library Week
April 13-18
National Library Week celebrates the contributions of our nation’s libraries and promotes literacy awareness. To learn more about National Library Week events, click www.roseville.ca.us/library. Also, catch the 21st Annual Youth Poetry ceremony on April 15, and the Celebrate the Earth event Saturday, April 18. All three Roseville libraries and the Maidu Interpretive Center are accessible with Roseville Transit.

Opening of “Double Exposure” Photo Exhibit (runs April 16-June 5) 6 p.m., exhibit debut Thursday, April 16
Roseville Utility Exploration Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. “Double Exposure” - Aerial photographs showing climate change in glaciers then and now, also to coincide with Earth Day. Opening reception is with photographer David Arnold. $20 adults/$10 students with tickets available at the Utility Exploration Center and the Roseville Chamber of Commerce.
