Join Mercy Ministries and South Placer County community members tomorrow for a day of prayer for our nation. President and founder of Mercy Ministries Nancy Alcorn will be the keynote speaker at this fifth annual prayer and breakfast. State coordinator Ted Rose expects about 750 people to attend the event.Mercy Ministries is a non-profit residential counseling program that exists to transform the lives of young women between the ages of 13–28 who face life-controlling issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, addictions, depression, eating disorders and unplanned pregnancy. The Mercy Ministries program is voluntary, Christ-centered and lasts approximately six months.
National Day of Prayer was created by the United States Congress in 1952 as a day when people of all faiths are asked to come together and pray, especially for their nation. In 1988, Ronald Reagan designated it as a floating holiday on the first Thursday in May each year.
