Cotton Candy and Rollercoasters!

YES! It's here again...the El Dorado County Fair!
By the time you read this, pack up the kids and get there, the 151st El Dorado County Fair will be in full swing. The moment I walked through the gates, it instantly brought back childhood memories of being drug through endless isles of vendor booths, quilting exhibits and ribboned livestock, uncontrollably anxious for the rides and games like a derby horse at the gates on race day.

Well this year the El Dorado County Fair committee has assembled another memory generating event for all ages with their "Fair-cation" theme!

We were grateful for a sneak-peek of this year's fair last night at the Media and Sponsor Night dinner hosted by the El Dorado County Fair. Every year the committee hosts a dinner to welcome their sponsors, thank their wonderful staff and crew for putting together the event and welcome local media to allow us an advanced preview of the fun to come.

After a nice dinner, we made our way over to the midway to sample some rides and scarf down some cotton candy. My wife and I took a few of the available rides for a spin (unfortunately the Grav-a-tron hadn't finished it's prep at the time we were allowed over there).

We raced on the Super Slide three times (admittedly, I lost TWICE to my wife), got twisted on the Tornado and found one ride that completely surprised us both...the Spin-Out! Spinning on three axis while your feet dangle high in the air will absolutely challenge your sense of direction! I definitely wasn't prepared for the inverted spinning...this thing will MESS. YOU. UP! Instantly a new favorite!

There is even a complete three-story roller coaster! Again, they were hard at work putting that together last night, so we'll have to wait to ride it once the fair officially opens. We had a blast and can't wait to take the kiddos and enjoy the whole thing.

The fair runs June 17-20 with themes and specials for every day the fair is open. So, check out the El Dorado County Fair Web site for more information...and go get your fair on!
