Folsom Lake College El Dorado Center Students to Host Non-Partisan Election Forum

The Folsom Lake College El Dorado Center (6699 Campus Way, Placerville) will host a non-partisan election forum from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 9th, designed to inform El Dorado County voters about the candidates and propositions on the November 6th ballot.

Sponsored by the center’s political science students and Student Activities Club, the event - which will be held in the center’s community room (C-102) - is free and open to the public.

Featured speakers will include: representatives from the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney; California Assembly District #5 candidates Frank Bigelow and Rico Oller; education-funding panelists who will discuss propositions 30 and 38; as well as crime-and-punishment panelists who will address propositions 34, 35 and 36.

Students will also host a “Proposition Pathway,” with tables of proposition information offering the pros and cons of each measure’s merits.

Paula Lee of the League of Women Voters will serve as moderator, and audience members will be invited to submit questions to all speakers.
