G.A.T.E. STUDENTS WORK TOGETHER IN "CREATIVE BUILDING" ACTIVITY

A unique and challenging program to engage G.A.T.E. students ages nine to eleven, “Creative Building,” pairs visual art techniques with construction planning processes.

Participants will collaborate with fellow G.A.T.E. students to envision and build towns made of recycled materials at Blue Line Gallery. Students will then use their towns as the setting to create a clay animation film. “Creative Building” is an exercise in team building, expanding the creative mind and technical skill.

Each group will be appointed a mayor to help direct and oversee the construction of their town. To gain insight into the process of building a successful community, students will have the opportunity to meet with Roseville’s own Mayor Susan Rohan during instruction on Saturday, December 15th.

Rebecca Toto, Director of Instruction, Assessment & Intervention said of partnering with Blue Line Gallery, "I am so glad that we can work together to provide our Gifted and Talented learners an outside opportunity that allows them to be creative and expand their learning opportunities.  These students thrive on stretching their minds and this class allowed them to learn from others, use their creativity, and also created a sense of teamwork for them while they completed the project.  "

Rich Pierucci, Superintendent of the Roseville City School District says, "We are excited about the partnership with the Blue Line Gallery in providing opportunities for our GATE students to expand their creative problem solving experiences using the medium of art."

  • WHEN: Saturday, December 15th, 9a.m.-3:30p.m.
  • WHERE: 405 Vernon Street, Suite 100, Roseville
