Find out first-hand why he’s often known as the “hardest working man in children’s show business” when Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players come to Harris Center for the Arts.
He has been compared to Buddy Holly, Nick Lowe, Weezer and even Paul McCartney. Millions have seen him on Sprout TV, The Today Show and Nick Jr., and one of his songs was featured on a World Series broadcast.
A former Montessori preschool teacher, Justin clearly remembers what it was like to be a kid – and his power pop sound will get everyone in the family on their feet, dancing and singing along. Justin will perform his high-energy hits like “Trick or Treat,” “Willy Was a Whale” and “Pop Fly,” plus songs from his newly released, NAPPA Gold Award-winning release, Recess. The Los Angeles Times comments that Roberts sings "Comic and soulful songs with creative, unique twists and turns that parents will enjoy as much as the children."
Justin Roberts is a Chicago-based artist who logs thousands of miles on the road each year while performing hundreds of concerts around North America. With numerous national awards (including seven Parents’ Choice Gold awards and six NAPPA Gold awards), Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players consistently dish out intelligent and whimsically engaging music. Roberts also recently authored a new picture book for children, to be published by Putnam in 2014.
Justin's CDs win multiple national awards and frequent critical acclaim. His 2010 release Jungle Gym was nominated for a Grammy Award and gained acclaim from Time magazine, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, National Public Radio and more. He recently won a second Grammy nomination for his new recording Recess in the “Best Album for Children” category.
