As far north as Arcata on the coast, Shasta inland, and down to the southern mines in Mariposa, Jewish immigrants established homes and businesses.
The Wells Fargo building gallery show highlights their settlements throughout the Mother Lode and in port cities which supplied goods to outlying camps.
Artifacts on loan from local residents and descendants of pioneer Jews and photographs from the archives of Western States Jewish History journal help tell the story of the success of these Jewish merchants and their contributions to the economy and civic affairs of California.
The exhibit runs from April 12 through May 18, and private tours may be scheduled.
Located in the heart of historic old town, Folsom History Museum is located at 823 Sutter Street. Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, admission is $4 for adults, $2 for youth, and is free for children under 12.
