Fairytale Town has some fun events coming up in August: Moonlight Costume Ball: Men in Tights Friday, Aug. 3 7 - 11 p.m. Outlaws wanted! Merry men and women are invited to a night of revelry, music, dancing and more at Fairytale Town's annual Moonlight Costume Ball. This year's Robin Hood-themed fundraiser features a red carpet photo op, giant dance floor, DJ, costume contests, live performance by Celtic rock band Tempest and fun all night long. Proceeds support the renovation of the Sherwood Forest play set. No-host food and bar. Costumes are required. Ticket holders must be at least 21 years of age. ID required. Advance tickets are $10. Children's Concert Series Saturday & Sunday, Aug. 4 & 5 2 p.m. Join Fairytale Town and local performing artists for rockin' matinee concerts on the Mother Goose Stage. Ericka Davis and Kiss N Tell will perform on August 4. The series wraps up with a day of fun, games and music on National Kids Day with performances by the Freebadge Serenaders, Musical Charis and Ricky Berger. Blankets are encouraged. Family Camp Out at Fairytale Town Friday, Aug. 10, 5:30 p.m. through Saturday, Aug. 11, 7 a.m. Spend the night at Humpty Dumpty's house. This overnight adventure includes a theater performance, arts and crafts activities, a scavenger hunt, bedtime stories and a sing-along. Wake up the next morning under Fairytale Town's canopy of trees to a light continental breakfast. Prices range from $35-$45 per person and include all activities. Member discounts are available. Saturdays & Sundays, Aug. 18, 19, 25 & 26 Show times at 12:30, 1:30 & 2:30 p.m. In their final show of the season, the Fairytale Town Troupers present the closing chapter in the epic sci-fi fairytale "A Princess of Stars." In this original production, the Sisterhood of Space Fairies joins forces with the brave Astra-Knights of Earth for one last confrontation with the evil Drakonian Empire. Performances will be held in the Children's Theater. Tickets are $1 for nonmembers in addition to park admission, and members receive two-for-one admission. Jackie Greene Live at Fairytale Town Saturday, Aug. 18 Gates open 6:30 p.m. Concert starts 8 p.m. Sacramento favorite Jackie Greene returns to Fairytale Town for a fourth annual benefit concert. Taking place on the park's Mother Goose Stage, the outdoor concert supports Fairytale Town's education programs and park improvements. Teacher Workshop: Giving Voice to Children's Literature Wednesday, Aug. 29 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Learn easy and effective read-aloud techniques from Francie Dillon, a professor of children's literature at Sacramento State University. The 7 p.m. show features the movie and fun arts and crafts activities for kids. The 10 p.m. screening features the movie played along with the cult-favorite Pink Floyd album, "The Dark Side of the Moon." Event tickets are $5 per person. About Fairytale Town Fairytale Town is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit children's park and educational center in Land Park whose mission is to promote the imagination, creativity and education of children. Established in 1959, Fairytale Town is home to 25 three-dimensional play sets based on favorite fairytales and nursery rhymes, a family of 22 rare and miniature breed animals, three interactive learning gardens and two performing arts stages.
