Kacie's Ride For Hope

This upcoming weekend, take a motorcycle ride through the beautiful foothills and show your support for local victims of domestic violence. This will be the fourth ride hosted by the Center for Violence-free Relationships (formerly the El Dorado Women's Center). The ride will end at the Diamond Springs Fire Fighter's Memorial Hall for some BBQ, music, a raffle.

WHEN: September 11
WHERE: Registration starts at Main St. Placerville, by the Bell tower
TIME: 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
COST: $20 per rider (all proceeds go the organization)

In July of 2006, Pat Barron tragically lost his sister, Kacie, as the result of domestic violence. Pat has worked tirelessly to help raise awareness of domestic violence and the damage it causes families and communities. The Fifth Annual Kacie's Ride for Hope is an opportunity for the motorcycle community to come together and help raise funds to prevent a tragedy like Kacie's from occurring again.

Sidewalk Sale in Sutter Creek!

Nutcracker Auditions!

We know the holidays seem like a long way off, but auditions for the Nutcracker are fast approaching. Dance auditions are taking place this Thursday, September 2 and musician auditions will be September 9. Make sure you check out the site and register to reserve your audition spot!

Sutter Creek Chili Cook Off!

It's time to whip out that world famous chili recipe you've been keeping under wraps. You still have time to enter the chili cook off contest taking place on Sutter Creek's Main Street.

There will be three categories:
*Best Chili (prize - $100)
*Best Chili prepared by a restaurant (prize - $50)
*Best Salsa (prize - $50)

If you're not really the cook and more the cook's best friend... there's a job for you, too - TASTING!
The prizes will be awarded according to popular vote from the event's expert tasters.

WHEN: Sunday, September 12
WHERE: Main Street, Sutter Creek
COST FOR COOKS: Hosting a chili booth is $25, salsa booth, $10.
COST FOR TASTERS: $5 for adults, $3 for children (includes a cup, spoon and ballot for voting)
TIME: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for tasting, a free car show from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Heads up: Chez Salon and Spa Would Love Your Help!

Just a reminder to give a hand for a great cause!

Chez Salon and Spa in Folsom is hosting a "Day of Caring" soon to provide support for oncology patients.

The team's goal is to get the whole community involved and they are asking you to nominate someone you may know who is going through though cancer treatment.

They also would love any contributions for the event or sponsors to help fund the gift bags that Chez will be giving to the guests.

The salon and spa will be providing facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, scalp treatments, wig styling, make-up applications and much more for the guests.

Consider donating your time or funds to help the Folsom community make this event a success.
They are located at the corner of East Bidwell and Blue Ravine next to Target and La Bou Deli in Folsom Square.

BBQ Cook-Off!

We know what we are doing September 18... getting some of the best BBQ around! Champion barbecue teams from around the world will descend on Cameron Park for the ultimate cook-off.

There will be about 20 local barbecue teams cooking up everything from chicken to ribs to beef brisket and pork shoulder. They also will have the chance to win $3,400 in cash and barbecue bragging rights!

And once you are done eating your fill of some good ribs, relax by hanging out at the family fun carnival, checking out the craft vendors and listening to three bands scheduled for throughout the day.

We at Style are helping sponsor this event and LOVE that it will benefit the Food Bank of El Dorado County!

WHEN: Saturday, September 18
WHERE: 2989 Cambridge Road, Cameron Park Lake, Cameron Park
TIME: ALL DAY!
